The Pousada de São Brás de Alportel was the first Pousada to be built in the Algarve in 1944, and the second in Portugal. It is just thirty minutes from the Algarve coast and Faro airport, and is the perfect place to discover the real Algarve, avoiding the more crowded coastal resorts.
The Pousada Sao Bras has 33 rooms: 8 doubles, 23 twins, including one luxurious twin and one luxurious double. All rooms have air conditioning/heating and come equipped with cable television, a mini bar, writing desk, telephone and bathroom with hair dryer and bathrobes.
Sports facilities at the pousada including a swimming pool and tennis courts, and nearby you will find mountain biking , water sports, a shooting range, paintball, horse riding, country walks, a gymnasium boat trips on the river and a golf course which is about 25km away.
The influence of the Sea and the Caldeirão Mountain is reflected in the gastronomy of the Pousada de Sao. Brás with locally produced honey, goat, spicy sausages, fish and shellfish featuring heavily. The Algarve’s deserts in this region are known for the use of almond, fig and carob. The restaurant’s cuisine offers all of this and more with the pork loin filled with clams, cabbage filled with codfish and chick-pea stew and fig cake with tangerine sorbet and chocolate sauce being specialities.
