The Pousada de Crato – Pousada Flor da Rosa is a castle, convent and a palace which were built in different periods and once inhabited by the Knights of the Order of Malta's Monastery.
In the area surrounding the pousada you will find some fascinating places to visit including the 15th century Monastery and Alamo Fountains, Nossa Senhora das Neves Church, Crato, Municipal Museum (Palácio do Arco), ruins of the castle Tapadão Dolmen, Alter do Chão Castle and Stud Farm, Portalegre and Castelo de Vide.
The pousada of Crato has 24 Rooms, 3 of which are luxury and located in the Monastery’s Tower. All have air conditioning, cable TV, mini bar, hairdryer, in room safe, bath robes, a writing-desk and telephone.
Sports and leisure amenities at the pousada include a swimming pool and family games and snooker. In the surrounding area you will find an18 hole golf course at Marvao which just 40 minutes away and a tennis court at Crato just a 5 minutes from the pousado. There is also horse riding, fishing, shooting and bird watching in the area.
There is an excellent restaurant at the Pousada de Crato which can accommodate 120 people, and which specialises in the delicious recipes of Alentejo serving scrambled eggs with wild asparagus, cod with tomato and coriander, veal steak with Niza cheese and almond and eggs dessert.
